Greenview Regional Hospital provides state-of-the-art methods to treat your kidney stones. We use ESWL (electric shock wave lithotripsy) as a method to break up the stones so that they can be passed on their own. Both kidneys can be treated without taking the patient off the table. You do not have to have any operative surgery.

The procedure takes about 35-40 minutes.

How long does it take to recover?
Recovery time is relatively short. It really depends on the patient. A maximum time is a week.

The procedure does not hurt; you’re given anesthesia.
